DÉJÀ-VU

people are busy doing chores and doing harm
running into and over
vacuuming and sweeping their lives
under the carpet
devouring the world’s resources and
their prey in one bite
hurting their children
losing their sense of duty, weight and battles
dragging their voids like wounded animals
diving in the shallow waters
raping my brain
wasting my time
again

I have been here before
I have seen
I have done
I know this man, his cat, his wife’s lover, their neighbor’s gun.
I know this life. This world. This moment. Frozen in time.
This overlapping of events. Repetition of sounds.
I am already gone
empty spaces echo with my shouts.

  1. I love this different side of you as much as your fiery side. This one seems more reflective and it still grabs like only you can.

This is so beautiful to see the change in tone and style. I can’t wait to read whatever you write.

    1. Thanks. I appreciate your kind words.
I wasn’t really in a ‘gloomy’ kind of mood when I wrote it. As I already said, it came quite spontaneously to me as a response to a picture (a woman in a house, behind the window, with leaves from the nearby tree reflected on her face). Susan will know what I’m talking about. She looks sad so I began to wonder what she’s thinking of and what she’s been through. She is is partly me, partly sb else. I wanted this rage and sadness and revolt, with an open ending. She’s screaming and nb can hear her. It’s up to the reader….
      P.S. I can’t wait to post more.

      1. Thank you, Bojana. I’m very sorry about it too.

Perhaps in just a few years there will be no trace of trees in the country. Then we’ll have nothing to be sorry about. In fact, think of the all the lovely buildings the big guys will be able to built. Wouldn’t that be lovely?

        Love, B.

      2. Same here. Destroying the nature for the sake of more concrete. No laws. Everybody does what they want…
Munich airport is desparate for one more terminal, which requires cutting down a forest. People have said no. The government needs to consider other options. A legal country. Period.

      1. Look we even think a like!! You are a great friend with the small issue of the ocean in between! I love having friends all over the country! I honestly prefer friends in other countries because it seems like people in the states are going insane!!!

  3. I must be missing something, but to me, this poem doesn’t show a different side of you, it’s exactly what I’ve come to expect from you. Not a rant, but a very firm message. It’s the same side, and that’s meant as a compliment.

  4. Change comes slowly and in this case, much too slow and probably too late. You expressed the importance and the frustration in very simple and elegant language! Not a word wasted here!

  5. Good morning dear Bo and thanks for this unusually succint piece of your marvelous stream of consciousness. Finally…I could read and enjoy it without tearing out my clothes. I did like it but it has kind of an over-bearing cloud of pessimism that depresses me. And I’m in a good mood today. Don’t miss tomorrow’s E.F. blog about cyber bullying of women.
    Un baccione. Arrivederci!

  6. Such powerful imagery to bring out the travails and conflicts of life. After reading this, I again went back to the first line… it is important to note the word ‘chores’ and ‘harm’ being used to portray the inability to differentiate.

      1. I find getting hooked on to and being brain-washed by philosophically deficient ideologies as self-destruction. As you said before, “we cannot conform” (to just about anything that is being sold (ideologies).

      2. Very few people understand that! I wish a consciousness shift will convince more people in the future. Greed for power, expectations, and the urge to be successfool ( yes I coined that term right now) drive people towards such drastic measures.
